A billionaire is offering £40 million to the man who can successfully woo his daughter.

In a move oddly reminiscent of the movie Indecent Proposal, Cecil Chao Sze-tsung, a property developer from Hong Kong, announced the bounty this week after news that his lesbian daughter had married her girlfriend after being together seven years.

76 year old Mr. Chao is "no stranger to controversy", reminds The Independent. Indeed, the developer has been reported to have claimed intimate relationships with 10,000 women on previous occasions. But his latest action has caused a flurry of media attention.

Desperately seeking Simon? 

Chao's 33 year old daughter, Gigi, married Sean Eav in France earlier this year. But the tycoon denied all reports of the ceremony, emphasising his desire to see her married to a man - preferably one with a nose for business.

"I don't mind whether he is rich or poor. The important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted," he told the South China Morning Post, adding he was hoping for someone with "the talent but not the capital to start his own business".

"Mr Chao needs to come out of denial and just be happy that he has such a beautiful daughter who appears to have found happiness with a partner whom she loves," one reader commented on the SCMP site.
