Celebrity news: christina aguilera (finally) sells home

This time last year, Christina Aguilera was releasing pictures of her Beverley Hills mansion to drum up some interest. It had been on the market for almost a year.
The extravagant images revealed a mix of Gothic, burlesque and modern styles lavished upon the Mediterranean-style property. But for all the fancy fixtures and fittings, Aguilera simply couldn't find a taker for the six-bedroom estate with nine bathrooms, a movie theatre, a swimming pool with water slide, a detached guesthouse complete with recording studio, a games room, a gym, a lounge featuring a grand fireplace - and a room dedicated solely to gift-wrapping.
Was it the bright red chandelier in the foyer? The dining room complete with rocking horse? Or was it just the price?
The pop star listed the property shortly after her divorce from Jordan Bratman. Together, they paid $11.5 million for the home, which had previously been used as the setting for MTV's reality TV series The Osbournes. After a lick of paint - and a lot of bright colours - Aguilera's asking price was a few steps higher, at $13.5 million.
That price remained the same for two years.
While other celebrities have reduced the price tag of their property to encourage a buyer, the singer stuck to her valuation of the 10,000 square-foot pad. Now, that stubbornness seems to have paid off, with news last month that Bratman had moved the last of his belongings out of the home swiftly followed by confirmation that Aguilera had finally sold the property.
The question on everybody's lips now is: what will the number of the sale record be?
