Tommy Lee Jones may not have won an Oscar last weekend for his supporting role in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, but he has his sights on another prize: the sale of his gargantuan estate in Florida.
The 50-acre polo ranch, which includes a four-bedroom home, was purchased by the actor in 2002. He paid $4.62 million for the land and the 11,000 square-foot main property, which is kitted out in ceiling-high glass walls. The estate also includes 48 horse stalls spread between two barns, a pon and, as you might expect, a regulation-sized polo field.
Why is the 66 year old actor upping polo sticks and leaving? He prefers playing at his ranch in Texas, according to an unnamed source close to him. And at his other ranch in California.
"He's got three huge properties," the source told Gossip Extra. "He decided to get rid of one, and he picked Wellington."
"It's a unique property for a unique buyer," added Realtor Philip Lyle Smith."The appraisal could be a problem since there's a huge difference between what Mr. Jones bought it for and what he wants for it. It's going to take a while for him to sell it."
How much is Jones asking for his ranch? $26.75 million. Compared to what he paid for it, that's a $22.13 million profit. If that isn't worth an award, TheMoveChannel.com doesn't know what it.
