Celebrity homes: lady gaga - the world’s richest tenant?

The US singer has made millions in her years among pop royalty, but when word of her latest real estate acquisition spread, it wasn’t the audacious decorations or wild artwork that amazed, it was the fact that she continued to rent.

Stefani Germanotta, before she became better known by her stage name, once lived in a one-bedroom Manhattan flat for $1,100 a month. She put up the Lower East Side pad for rent in November 2011 before moving into a Bel Air mansion. That Mediterranean-style home, which spanned 6,000 square feet, was on the market for $4.475 million, but the icon chose instead to rent it for $25,000 a month.

Her latest home is no exception to the rule. The duplex penthouse, located on Central Park South, boasts a marble bathroom, wood-burning fireplace and a view of the park itself, reports The Real Deal. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a grand total of four terraces? That would be enough to tempt many celebrities to splash their cast, but not Gaga: she pays $22,000 a month.

Rumours have surrounded her purchasing, or even building, her own home on Martha’s Vineyard, alongside summer rental residents such as Barack Obama, but the singer denied the claims in Forbes.
