News programmes added to international iplayer

A range of news programmes, from Newsnight to the interview show HARDtalk, have been added to the BBC’s global version of its iPlayer service on the iPad.

Launched earlier this year, the iPad app allows users in 11 countries outside the UK to access BBC content, with the service expected to be extended into more markets by the start of 2012.

Unlike the BBC's UK-only iPlayer service, which allows users to catch up with virtually all recently broadcast radio and TV programmes online, as well as streaming shows as they are aired, the international version offers only a selection of new and archived BBC content.
