Watch – al capone’s house for sale

Sixty-five years after Al Capone's death, his mansion is now up for sale.

Capone arrived in Miami Beach in 1928, riding the fame of his Chicago crime wave, looking for someone to put his feet up. $40,000 later and he was the owner of a 30,000 square-foot estate.

"He wanted the biggest pool, so he built one 30 by 60 feet," Jorge Alonso of Prudential Douglas Elliman Florida tells Zillow."He built the two-story cabana pool house, where he kept the guards, and he also built the guest house and a wall to guard the house."

The Miami Beach mansion played a vital role in the latter years of his career, providing an alibi for the Valentine's Day Massacre and sheltering him after his prison sentence until he passed away in 1947.

"They made sure the architect kept the original things," Alonso adds.

How much to follow in Al Capone's footsteps? $9.95 million. Not much, if you have your own bootlegging and money laundering business.
