Need a job? Head to texas

If you're in need of employment, Texas is your best bet, according to new research.

A study carried out by 24/7 Wall Street looked at the top 10 metropolitan areas with job growth in the last three years and found that four were located in Texas. Odessa topped the list, with 18.4 per cent more people employed since 2009, while the top 10 also included Midland and Laredo.

The state seems to have resisted the housing crisis better than the rest of the country, which the report attributes to stricter mortgage regulations. A natural gas boom also created employment opportunities, further boosting the area's infrastructure and economy.
