Sydney’s outer suburbs see rents soar

Sydney's outer suburbs are seeing rents soar, according to new research by PRDnationwide.

PRDnationwide's report shows that Pittwater, at the far north, and Campbell, in the outer south-west, experienced the highest rental growth in June, with values up by 16.3pc and 14.8pc respectively compared to 2011.

On Sydney's outer belt of the Greater Metropolitan Region, Property Observer adds, median rents also performed well, with the Southern suburb of Wollongong and the northern Lake Macquarie seeing strong increases.

Within the main city, rental increases were far weaker. Indeed, the inner-west suburbs of Canada Bay and Maitland were the only two places to see rents increase by double-digits in the year to June.
