The islands may be sinking as water levels rise, but creativity at The Maldives tourist board has never been higher as the country announces plans to turn the islands into a giant floating golf course.
The ambitious development will see the archipelago linked together by "revolutionary underwater tunnels", according to the project's developer Dutch Docklands.
Waterstudio.nl is the lead architect of the plan, reports The Telegraph, while the completed course will see villas, reefs and hotels sit atop the islands - with an underwater clubhouse beneath them, of course.
The total cost for turning The Maldives into the world's first floating golf course? £320 million.
