P&o launches luxury cross-channel ferry

Cruising giant P&O will begin a new service to France after taking possession of the Spirit of Britain, one of the largest ferries in the world, over the weekend.

In an effort to entice new customers in the already competitive cross-Channel ferry market, the company is offering one-way car fares with up to nine passengers for only £19, with a super generous six bottles of wine included and free breakfast - sure to attract the weekend stag do crowds.

The ferry is capable of carrying 2,000 passengers and 400 vehicles, and is equipped with Wi-Fi, shower facilities, an upscale shopping Centre and private lounge. It's sure to further open up the already large market of Anglo-French tourism, particularly for those of us who've travelled the route by ferry before and found the facilites, shall we say, not all that pleasant.

Meanwhile, ship traffic between Britain and France has hit record numbers as demand for holidays across the pond shows no sign of decreasing. This is the sixth ship P&0 operates on the route, and they plan to add another, the Spirit of France, in September.
