Singapore is best location for expat entrepreneurs

A study of entrepreneurial expats reveals that more than seven out of 10 believe they have achieved more with their start-ups by working abroad. One of the major advantages given is the ability to grow faster by being outside the UK.

NatWest International, in partnership with the Centre of Future Studies, researched the extent to which countries promote the entrepreneurial spirit through a variety of practices such as low taxes and lighter bureaucracy, along with factors such as their economic climate and infrastructure.

Singapore was ranked the best country to nurture start-ups for expats, followed by Hong Kong and the U.S.

Dave Isley, head of NatWest International Personal Banking, said: “Setting up your own business can be difficult and you would imagine doing so abroad would be a task for the brave. But a new breed of entrepreneur is emerging and it is encouraging to see these modern-day pioneers are thriving in foreign climes.”
