Bahamaian resort opens first night club for teenagers

With a D.J. and dance floor, 20 iPads, 32 flat-screen monitors for gamers, and touch-screen tables, the sleek new Crush nightclub at Atlantis resort in the Bahamas would stand out on its own. But what makes the club unusual is its demographic: 13- to 17-year-olds.

Opened Jan. 1, the $11 million, 14,000-square-foot club was created after the resort held focus groups with teenagers last year. It found that they wanted games and music, and "to feel like adults," said Amanda Felts, vice president of guest activities and resort programming.

The club, open 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., costs $25 per guest.

Teenagers aren't the only ones being given new entertainment options. Atlantis's former teenage club, Club Rush, was converted to a nightclub for the 9-to-13-year-old set, featuring video games, movie screenings and a dance floor with a house D.J.
