Spain investors revel in 29% easter boost

Global demand for holiday rental accommodation in Spain during Easter Holy Week this year increased by 29% compared to Easter of 2012, according to statistics from the Spanish Internet holiday rental portal, Homeaway.es.

Demand for accommodation in Spain by European and American tourists saw an increase of 33%, and domestic tourism growth stood at 24% compared to 2012. El Mundo reported that among the foreign tourists, the Germans were the ones showing greatest interest in Spain this Easter, followed by American, British and French tourists.

Andalusia was the main preferred destination for Spanish tourists over Easter, accounting for 30% of the total enquiries received by all the Spanish regions for holiday bookings during this period. Seville, Cadiz, Granada and Malaga were, in that order, the Andalusian provinces to receive most enquiries for holiday bookings during Easter 2013.

Catalonia, with 16% of all the enquiries received for Easter holiday bookings via the Internet portal, is second place in their rankings, with Barcelona, Girona and Tarragona being the Catalan provinces most in demand.

Madrid received 7% of the domestic tourist enquiries and Mallorca received 4%, placing the Balearic Islands in fourth place in the ranking, with Asturias (3%) closing the list of the ‘Top 5′ destinations most in demand for holiday homes to rent in Spain this Easter.
