The two-bedroom mansion, located, naturally, in Las Vegas, has come on to the market. The building boasts 10 bathrooms, including a whirlpool bath with taps shaped like swans, reports The Telegraph. The extravagance does not stop there, though: the hallway is lined with mirrors, the pillars are rumoured to be 2,000 years old and from Greece, while one of the rooms sports a ceiling covered in a reproduction of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel.

The house, though, is far from its former glory: exposed wiring and peeling paint are as evident as the once-audacious opulence. Rewind several decades and the Las Vegas home - one of 11 owned by the singer - was party central for America’s glitziest. Two years after Liberace passed away, The Liberace Foundation sold the property. Its new owner, though, did not have Liberace’s charm to continue its lively reputation: neighbours complained about the noises, leaving him struggling to make the mortgage repayments.

Now, after the recession has hit the market, Liberace’s house joins a long line of real estate being snapped up by overseas or institutional buyers looking for a cheap bargain. At 15,000 square feet of living space, the home clocks in with a worth of £23.50 per square foot - an impressive figure given the previous owner.

The price tag on the property now? £354,000, cash only - a discount of $3 million compared to its peak.
