Celebrity homes: tom hanks puts pre-forrest gump home up for sale

Hanks and Wilson purchase the Spanish-style villa back in 1988, just a few months after Hanks was nominated for another Academy Award for Big. The home, which spans a sizeable 6,289 square feet, was a steal at $1.9 million, even if Curbed LA does describe its interior decor as “weirdly grandmotherly”.

Compared to their other estates, though - a $26 million mansion in the same part of Los Angeles, which they picked up two years ago - the four-bedroom home is slightly less impressive. It boasts frescoed ceilings and a private beauty Salon, alongside five and a half baths and a homely feel quite apart from the usual Hollywood celebrity property purchases.

The price for Hanks’ home now? $5.225 million. An unexpected raise, perhaps, but the housing market has a changed a lot since Forrest Gump. Box, chocolates.
