Auction houses enjoy record art sales

Auction houses enjoyed record art sales in 2014, as new buyers entered the market, fuelling a surge in purchases.

Christie's International and Sotheby's both reported a record 2014, with the former's sales climbing to 5.1 billion pounds (12 per cent higher than 2013) and Sotheby's climbing 18 per cent to 6 billion.
