Overseas property news - Murcia theme park to open in 2015

Murcia theme park to open in 2015

Paramount Pictures' new amusement park in the Spanish region of Murcia, expected to draw crowds similar to that of Eurodisneyland, is set to open in 2015. At a ceremony unveiling the master plan for the park, developers revealed that several hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and conference centers were also planned within the complex.

Plans revealed the park would be zoned into different thematic areas similar to the Disneyland format, with 'worlds' themed around Paramount hits Star Trek, Mission Impossible and Titanic. The park's 'Lifestyle Center' would include two five-star hotels, three four-star and several more three-star resorts, as well as a 15,000 seat auditorium and the largest conference center in the region.

Director of Costa Calida-based realty firm Mercers, Chris Mercer, said the complex would be a huge shot in the arm for the property industry. "Undoubtedly Paramount will have a positive effect locally - not least on the property industry and house values", he said. "We have been through some hard times but Paramount's confidence and faith proves that the lure and attraction of Spain will prevail."
