Dubai investors petition over "unfinished" dpg project

Investors in Dubai have appealed to the emirate’s ruler to intervene in a dispute between them and a developer after being told they risked Fines if they did not accept properties on an unfinished project.

Dubai’s Remraam Community, by the Dubai Properties Group (DPG), was due complete by June 2010. However, a petition signed by 37 investors in the project said in a petition to the Ruler’s Court that they were being forced to accept properties without water or electricity connection.

The petition asks the court to insist that DPG connect the homes to utilities and develop the promised infrastructure. It also asks for compensation for incurred losses during the handover delay.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We are being forced to take possession of half-baked apartments and communities in Remraam, which is in the middle of the desert with no amenities and no DEWA. The electricity is provided through generators [and water tanks].”
