Pending us property sales slip from two-year peak
Pending sales of US property fell from their two-year peak last month, according to the National Association of Realtors. The Pending Home Sales Index, based on contract signings, dropped by 2.6 per cent in August after a busy July, where sales were at the highest level since April 2010 (when buyers were rushing to beat the deadline for the home buyer tax credit). But despite the slight decline, pending sales remain 10.7 percent above August last year as the market continues to recovery.

Irish house prices up for second month in a row
Irish property prices are 11.8 per cent below August last year, according to the latest figures. But while the Central Statistics Office report suggests a negative overall picture, house prices actually rose in August by 0.5 per cent. Indeed, the increase marks the second month of growth in a row after prices edged up by 0.2 per cent in July.

Watch - barcelona's 8-foot vertical garden
Architect Juli Capella was tasked- by the city of Barcelona- to design a vertical garden to cover a nearly 70-foot-high windowless wall (leftover after an adjacent building was demolished). Instead of creating a typical living wall that simply covered the existing surface with plants, he constructed a piece of architecture (or vegitecture) that acts like any conventional building, with a door, stairs and floors. But unlike any other building, it has plants for walls.
