Fiji offers a 'bright future' for property investors

Property Investors can feel more positive about their offshore property investments in Fiji, off the back of the recent positive statements from newly-appointment Australian Foreign Minister Senator Bob Carr.

Foreign affairs spokeswoman Julia Bishop commented, "The Change in foreign minister is an opportunity for the Labor government to recast its relationship with Fiji."

The temperamental relationship between the Australian and Fijian governments since the military coup of 2006 has finally been given some respite, as Fiji continues to make steps towards democratic elections in 2014, promising to see the Australian Government making noises of positive reengagement with Fiji.

Bob Lowres, the owner of one of Fiji's largest master planned communities Naisoso Island, Sees this as encouraging news for new investors, "The reengagement between both governments helps to remove an impediment investors may have concerning the political standoff between the respective governments and their lack of recognition of Fiji's Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and his government."

"This barrier will be eradicated and with the backing of the strong Australian dollar, we expect to see a tremendous increase in Australians seeking to invest in Fiji.
