Sofia launched a new line on its underground system at the end of last month. This boost to the Bulgarian capital's metro network has been credited with supporting property prices in the area by local agents.

Prices in Sofia have been declining in recent months, with values 2.5 per cent lower than last year in July August, but the areas around the new metro line have remained stable - and, in some places, actually increased.

Arco Real Estate highlighted the decreasing house prices in the city, with a statement that revealed average selling prices in all regions of Sofia were below €1,000 per square metre for the first time in five years.

"The only increases were in neighbourhoods close to the newly-built metro railway line" added The Sofia Globe.
