Best rental returns found in east florida, say experts

Planning to invest in US property? Look to the East Coast of Florida, advise experts.

Property investment firm Knight Knox International says that the East of the Sunshine State offers "some of the best returns in the market", with demand for good rental stock at high levels.

Indeed, the US property market is starting to recover, with leading economists predicting that 2013 will see modest growth in home prices, in line with the rise already seen over the last six months.  Leading the way is renowned US investment guru Warren Buffett - one of the most successful property investors in the world.

Buffett has obtained a majority stake in an American estate agent through his fund, Berkshire Hathaway, in addition to other investments in the housing arena, giving confidence to investors the world-over that the US property market is back.

The property crash wiped as much as 50% off the price of houses in some states, allowing funds and companies like Mr. Buffet and Knight Knox International to source good quality properties in desirable areas, at a fraction of their original price. These low prices, combined with the high tenant demand, means that yields are higher than in other buy-to-let markets, such as London, where houses are more expensive.

"The stock [in East Florida] is some of the best on the market", comments Matt Lavin, Senior Property Consultant at Knight Knox International. "We always ensure that we choose projects in locations that are financially viable for investors. For example, The Villas at La Cita is very close to a wide range of attractions including golf courses, beaches and national parks. These elements combined offer investors both strong annual rental profits and solid capital growth prospects as the marker begins its recovery".
