Dublin trophy home bought for 2.3m euro
A buyer has paid more than double the asking price to secure a trophy house on one of Dublin's most expensive streets.
The anonymous telephone bidder bought 35 Ailesbury Road for more than 2.3 million euro (£2.06 million) - twice its reserve of 1.45 million euro (£1.3 million) - at Ireland's latest distressed property auction.
The bidder was quick to secure the sale - in just seven minutes - despite the large period property needing a complete refurbishment.
However, it could be viewed as a bargain, as in years gone by houses on the leafy road regularly sold for more than 10 million euro (£8.9 million).
