Bulgarian consulate predicts russian tourist surge
The number of Russian tourists applying for visas to holiday in Bulgaria is expected to continue to soar this year, according to the country's Consulate in Moscow.
The Consulate reported that tourism from Russia to Bulgaria has already hit record numbers, with 21,000 visa applications already filed since January this year. This figure is a 50% increase on the same period last year, and 100% larger than that of 2009.
The Consulate expects tourist numbers to continue to grow, with a possible spike this month and in May as the summer season kicks off early. Capacity for application processing has been increased to keep up with rising demand.
