Agents attack on "rightmove of denmark" foiled
TheMoveChannel.com leads the way in overseas real estate lead generation, but in the UK property market, Rightmove is one of the big players.
But imagine if agents here chose to do what they did in Denmark?
A group of agencies got together and - accounting for about 65 per cent of the Danish real estate market - agreed to boycott the site Boliga.dk by denying access to photos, reports Global Edge. Their aim? To deter buyers and limit property leads through the portal, thereby bolstering Boliga's rival, Boligsiden, the runner-up in the market.
But The Danish Competitive Council this week ruled that the plans of the country's six biggest agents, along with independent firms and the industry association, were anti-competitive.
Tim Jensen, CEO of Boliga.dk, commented: "It is deeply reprehensible and unacceptable to participate in jointly made illegal agreements against us. This has particularly affected the real estate agents, who would like to work with Boliga, even though their top management wouldn't permit this. But the real losers here are the home owners who are missing out on the huge advantages a listing on Boliga creates for a faster real estate sale. Our main objective is to create total transparency in the Danish real estate market to benefit both buyers and sellers"
Fortunately, with TheMoveChannel.com's low-cost solutions for both property advertisers and buyers, there is no one planning to rebel against this site any time soon.
