Housing ministry revives 21,000 homes across malaysia

The Housing and Local Government Ministry has managed to revive 21,000 houses from 100 abandoned projects across the country after reviving 100 abandoned residential projects between 2009 and 2012, said outgoing secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Kabit.

However, he said that there are still 30,000 uncompleted houses in 67 abandoned projects, according to The Star.

"I hope the new secretary-general will be more aggressive in dealing with this issue," he noted during his speech to ministry staff when transferring duties to his successor, Datuk Arpah Abd Razak.

Ahmad officially retired yesterday at the age of 57, and after serving the country for 36 years. Holding a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, Ahmad served as the secretary-general of the housing ministry for the past three years. Prior to this, he worked in various capacities in both state and federal level, including at the Selangor Road Transport Department, Information Ministry, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Public Services Department.
