Thousands stranded in sydney after airport security breach

Extra flights have been scheduled at Sydney Airport to clear a backlog of thousands of passengers, who were stranded after a security breach at a terminal yesterday afternoon forced all passengers to be rescreened.

About 16 passengers were not screened after a power failure at a security checkpoint caused it to malfunction about 3.15pm yesterday. 

Sydney Airport ordered the rescreening of the entire terminal, including passengers who had already boarded their Planes and were waiting to take off.

Flights from Virgin Blue, Tiger Airways, Jetstar and QantasLink were affected.
