Do you know Bree Street? You will soon: it is fast becoming Cape Town's commercial property hotspot.
Indeed, the area in the South African city has seen a glut of developments, from the new headquarters for a major law firm to Portside, Cape Town's largest office development.
And it doesn't end with offices. Retail, culinary and creativity hubs are appearing up and down the street, with the millions of rands invested being hailed as a positive indicator for the city's economy.
"Our decision to locate Portside in the CBD was based on our belief that it is a quality environment for business," Portside's owner Old Mutual Properties told South African Commercial Property News. "Bree Street is a great example of the broader Central City as a clean and safe area to live and work. In addition to it being in the heart of Cape Town's CBD, the Bree Street address offers easy access to the N1 and N2 highways, and all the public transport stations. These are all important factors in the decision of where to locate a business."
Design centres and venues are still opening, with local brands attracted to Cape Town's latest prime spot. A R12 million development at 107 Bree Street, promising retail and mixed use space, is just one example. The commercial boom continues.
