Video: qantas expanding into asian marlet
Qantas has announced plans to expand into Asia as the continent's aviation market continues to grow, ABC Business reports.
The Australian airline will be launching a new premium airline based in Asia as well as a budget Japan-based service called Jetstar Japan.
The announcement by Qantas follows predictions by the International Air Transport Association that the number of international flyers will increase from 952 million in 2009 to 1.3 billion passengers in 2014. The majority of these passengers are expected to come from China.
Details of the new airline services are still being finalised, but the company expect Jetstar Japan to begin flying by the end of next year.
