Watch - venice tourists up to waists in water
The lagoon city of Venice continues to suffer from high waters which
reached five feet above sea level on Sunday after continuous rain
pounded many regions of Italy over the weekend.
Around 70 per
cent of Venice was flooded after days of relentless rainfall in a
particularly severe 'Acqua Alta' or high water season with levels among
the highest ever recorded, city officials said .
"The red alert
we issued last Friday is still in place: the heavy rain recorded in the
last few hours confirms our worries and are in line with our forecasts,"
said Venice councillor for civil protection, Daniele Stival.
