Renters beware - scams surrounding homes increase

Eight months pregnant and thinking of her lease that will expire in November, Amanda Hernandez took to Craigslist last month in search of a new home for her and her 16-month-old son, Aven.

Hernandez had used the online classified site before to find housing in Holland and was happy with the results.

What she found this time sent her on a sleuthing journey that soon ended at the city assessor’s office with some troubling results.
